Temple Emet Membership Message
On behalf of the Membership Committee, we WELCOME you to Temple Emet!
Temple Emet is the only Reform Congregation in Torrance.
Since its humble beginning in 2010, Temple Emet has grown from about
30 members to serving well over 200 congregants today.
Under the spiritual direction and leadership of our beloved Rabbi-Cantor Didi Thomas,
and through the generous contributions of our members, we were able to
establish our own Temple right here in the South Bay.
As a member of Temple Emet, you will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of
sponsored religious and community activities. In addition to religious services, we
have a diverse and varied Adult Education program with many offerings.
Social activities are also an important part of our community.
From Sisterhood to the Men's Club for the men, and much more to help you get acquainted with other members of our community. We even have activities to heal the
mind and body with meditative prayer.
Community outreach is also an important part of our mission. We participate in
interfaith services, donate food and clothes to help feed the homeless, etc.
At Temple Emet, we are truly an inclusive Jewish congregation.
Our motto is: We do things differently!

OctOctober 17 , 2024Nova Music Festival Exhibition Group Outing
Thursday, Oct 17th 10:45a to 3:00p
We remember those who lost their lives, were injured, and those held hostage on this horrific one year anniversary of the October 7th attack on Israel. The Middle East and all of our lives are forever changed. We stand together -- broken hearted but cannot give up hope. The Israeli people, and even the national anthem “Hatikvah” are based on it. Amidst the horrific nightmare that continues to this day, we pray for the release of all remaining hostages and peace. To gather in commemoration, we will go as a group on October 17 to attend an exhibit in their honor. And, this Friday, on Kol Nidre, we will light a special candle on their behalf. We will arrange carpools - please join us. Please be advised there is nowhere to sit during the exhibit, and we were told that we must be able to stand/walk through it. Additionally, the Exhibition contains sensitive and graphic content, including gunshots, shouts, flickering lights, complex and difficult content to watch, and survivors' testimonies. (If you need to duck out then please do) Carpools will leave Temple at 10:45 am on Thursday 10-17. You MUST RSVP if you are joining us because tickets must be purchased in advance. Minimum ticket price is $9.30, which includes a $1.30 service fee and a minimum $8 donation to commemorate the victims, rehabilitate the survivors of the festival, support the Tribe of Nova community, promote education and call for the return of the hostages. RSVP HERE We will go to lunch afterwards -
