Despair no more! Let's meet to talk Jewish musical culture on February 26^th at 7:30pm. The Zoom Link is below.

I thought we'd take a short break from our retrospective of Jewish Musical Films, and detour through another area of 20^th century culture that the Jewish experience touched... hard. Back in December I held a Zoom class, but very few were able to attend that night. Let's return to the subject matter, i.e.: Jews in pop music, starting with folk and where it led in post WW2 America.

Let's take a look at Don't Look Back, the P.A. Pennebaker documentary that was released in 1967. It offers great insight into the fascinating career of one whom some consider the greatest artist of the 20th Century! (discussion to follow)

We'll also do a little of our own exploration into the influences that led to the Dylan phenom.

In fact, maybe try to add in No Direction Home, a Martin Scorcese documentary from 2005. It is a long movie, so perhaps we can start with an hour which we can view freely online.

These two films shed copious light on Dylan's mind and career... and can't be more appropriate given this Academy Award Season.
